Hi, I’m Jasmine, and I love seeing the difference data can make.
Throughout my life, I have taken an interest in the data around me and searched for patterns and trends wherever possible. Early on, this was through simple things such as registration plates on cars, or the structure of math questions on a test. Later in life, these patterns became more complex and thus, my love for Chemistry was born.
The ability to recognize trends helped me learn Chemistry which was convenient because they were abundant. Being able to group information in such ways reduced the amount to memorize and helped focus attention on applications of the knowledge. Through this, I became interested in research and consequently conducted an undergraduate research project in computational chemistry and later an internship in a laboratory.
It was during my internship that I discovered the world of data science. I taught myself how to code using Python, learned the fundamentals of SQL, and completed a project in Power BI for the company. These tools helped me realize why I enjoyed Chemistry and the applications of science so much. The research gave me the raw data but it was what I chose to do with that data that was so powerful. I saw how the tools I created and the way I present the data could be used to inform important business decisions that ultimately could create a more sustainable future for everyone.
Since my internship, I have been handling data conversion for a company that provides software solutions for municipalities. This valuable experience has ramped up my SQL skills to expert level
Furthermore, I am a big believer in working smarter not harder so seek to automate redundant tasks wherever possible to unlock valuable time for people to focus on bigger goals. Therefore, I strive to be part of a team that works efficiently to make the best data-informed decisions possible to create a better future.
